Privacy policy

What we collect

• Photos of ingredient lists. When you scan a label, the image is sent to our text-extraction service so the ingredients can be read. We do not keep the image once the text has been extracted, and we do not use it to identify you.
• Extracted ingredient text. Used only to match against our curated additive database and produce your result.
• Account and subscription details. If you create an account, we store your email address and the state of your subscription so your paid plan works across devices. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach us.
• Anonymous usage events. Basic events such as “a scan was started” or “results were shown”, tied to a random session identifier rather than to your name.
• Feedback messages. Anything you send through our feedback form, plus an email address if you provide one.

What we do not collect

KidLabelScan does not ask for your child’s name, date of birth, health records or location. Child profiles you set up are saved on your device only. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Why we use it

To read the label you photograph, show you additive information from our curated database, keep your plan and scan allowance accurate, and understand at an aggregate level how the app is used so we can improve it.

Service providers

We use third-party providers for hosting, database storage, payments and the text-extraction (OCR) model that reads your photo. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

Retention

Scan photos are processed and not retained. Account and subscription records are kept while your account exists. Feedback messages and anonymous usage events are kept while they remain useful for improving the app.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete your account, your email address or a feedback message at any time through our feedback form. Please include the email address you used so we can find the record.

Children

KidLabelScan is designed for parents and carers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the app needs no information about a specific child beyond the age band you pick, which stays on your device.

Cookies, analytics and advertising measurement

Essential cookies keep you signed in and make payments work; they are always active. Google Analytics 4 runs only with Analytics consent, and the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel run only with Marketing consent. Before you choose, no analytics or advertising script, cookie or network request is created, and analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization all default to denied. We share only anonymous event metadata: the page path with attribution parameters, the interface language, the plan name and the billing interval, plus the currency and amount of a subscription taken from our payment records. Photos of labels, extracted ingredient text, allergens, health findings, your child's age, your name, e-mail address and account identifier are never shared with these services. Your choice is stored with a version and timestamp; you can change or withdraw it at any time via Cookie settings, and tracking stops immediately for the future.
